About Hanfu Dress Guide

We started Hanfu Dress Guide because quality Hanfu information was scattered across brand Instagram pages, Chinese forum threads, and TikTok videos — in fragments and often self-serving. We wanted one honest, complete, easy-to-use English resource.

What We Cover

  • Style & dynasty guides — Tang, Song, Ming, modern: the silhouettes, cultural context, and how to wear each correctly.
  • Practical how-tos — hairstyles, fabric care, sizing across cross-collar and ru combinations, and etiquette.
  • Responsible buying — where to buy, what authentic really means, per-price expectations, and the shops worth your money.
  • Comparisons — Hanfu vs kimono, hanbok, qipao, and cheongsam: the honest differences, plainly explained.

Our Principles

  • Cultural accuracy first. We double-check dynasty facts, collar techniques, and fabric names — and correct errors openly when we're wrong.
  • No paid promotion. We don't accept payment for listings or drop tags from brands we independently believe in.
  • Good for beginners. A person wearing their first Hanfu should feel welcome, not overwhelmed by details.
